2nd 'Lessons from...' Careers Event
The Society held its second event in the 'Lessons from..' series, in March 2018. The event focused around Lessons from Successful Alumni, and we welcomed 7 former UoM PPE students from many different fields, including government, accountancy, finance, law, teaching and entrepreneurship, which demonstrates just how transferable and useful PPE is as a degree. The talks were followed by a networking session where the students were able to delve more into the careers of the speakers, gain advice and secure those vital contacts.
The speakers were:
Elizabeth Mitchell (Principal Policy Officer at Manchester City Council)
Michael Omoniyi (CEO at TCS Network)
Roberta Akpan (Assistant Manager, Restructuring at KPMG)
Tom Danaher (Investment Manager at Smith and Williamson)
Ben Farren (Teach First Leadership Development Programme)
George Irving (Future Trainee at Mishcon de Reya) Matt Robins (Creative Developer at Notch Communications)
Special mention goes to our President, Vice President and Engagement Officer for organising the event. We look forward to hosting the third in the 'Lessons from...' series: watch this space!

We plan to host several careers events exclusively for PPE students throughout the year. In particular we will be running interactive information events with our sponsors Allen and Overy for students interested in learning more about graduate and internship opportunities on offer.
As PPE students, there are many careers paths open and available to you. We recommend making an appointment with the University of Manchester careers service as this will act as a good starting point for your careers research.
